Aldona, a green village in the Taluk Bardez in North Goa is located is 14 kms from district headquarters Panaji and 8 kms from Bardez. Close to its vicinity lies cities and villages like Mapusa, Panaji, Mayem, Moira, Sirigao, Assanora, Thivim and Marmagao. The native language in Aldona is Konkani but Marathi, Hindi, English and Portuguese are also widely spoken. Its location near the Arabian Sea makes it a humid village due to which the temperature in Aldona varies from 17degree C- 35 degree C. October to March is the best time to visit Aldona.
Car and Motorbike is the best transportation mean to enjoy the village of Aldona. Agriculture is the primary occupation and due to Mandovi river, fishing is the next best occupation in Aldona.
Places to see in Aldona
St. Thomas Church: The St. Thomas Church is the most beautiful and inspiring structure that speaks about the history of the village Aldona. it was built in 1596 on the banks of the river Mapusa. The church is decorated inside by symbolic biblical murals and beautiful statues. The church was often robbed by thieves and robbers for its treasure of jewels. On one such time, a group of thieves crossed the river to rob the church. Few women working in the farms nearby saw them and rang the church bell to alert the villagers. To further stop the robbers, the women took whatever they had in their hands and attacked the group. Some of the thieves ran away while others got drowned. This day is still celebrated in June as Day of Dia Dos Ladroes.
St. Thomas Church Cemetery: The beautiful white cemetery of St. Thomas Church consists of a chapel attached to a high walled graveyard. on the entrance a phrase is written "AIZ MAKA, FALEAM TUKA" which means "Today for me, Tomorrow for you". Corjeum Fort: Corjeum Fort has been named by Government of Goa as "Protected Site". It was built by the Portuguese in 16th century and was used to attack the Marathas and the Bhonsles. The fort also has a story attached to it wherein a Portuguese lady called Ursula disguised herself as a man and entered the army in the fort. Now only a well, a chapel , a room/ pantry and four ramps talk about this once majestic fort. There is no entrance fee for the fort.
Cable Stayed Bridge, Aldona: The first cable stayed bridge in Goa also is one of the major attractions of Aldona. The bridge connects Aldona village and Corjeum village. It was built by State infrastructure Development Corporation of Goa. It has also featured in a number of Bollywood movies. The bridge also has a pedestrian walkway that gives beautiful view of Aldona and surrounding areas.
Pomburpa Springs: Pomburpa Springs is widely used by the villagers for drinking, washing clothes and bathing. The water of the springs is believed to have medicinal properties.

By train: The nearest railway station of Thivim is 5 kms away from Aldona. But Vasco da Gama Railway Station is the main one which is 25 kms away from the village.
